The director of the three opus, Leigh Janiak, wants to continue the adventure and more.
After the success of the trilogy Fear street on Netflix, will the Shadyside saga have a sequel? Finished with Fear Street Part 3: 1666 released last Friday on the platform, the saga officially has no new opus planned for the moment. But an intriguing scene in the middle of the final credits opens the door to other things. A Fear Street 4 ? Maybe even more, as suggested by the director Leigh Janiak at IndieWire. She does indeed seem interested in developing a Shadyside franchise, a real Netflix Horror Universe style MCU :
“One of the exciting things about Fear street, it is the fact that the universe is vast and allows a lot of things. One of them, which I talked about before I got hired, was that we have the potential here to create a Marvel Horror Universe. [Cinematic Universe], in which we would find slasher killers from many different eras. You have the ‘canon’ of our main mythology which is built around the fact that the devil lives in Shadyside, so there is room for everything else! “
Going further in her reasoning, she specifies: “I’m hopeful the audience likes it enough that we can start building [plus]. We can think of another trilogy, independent films, or even TV series. It doesn’t matter whether we call it television or cinema. That’s the beauty of Netflix. Fear street is kind of a new hybrid thing and I’m excited to do other things with it. “
It will be recalled that the three components of Fear street (1994, 1978 and 1666) posted online in July on the platform, are based on the books of RL Stine, a literary saga which has about fifty volumes for the original, to which we can add another fifty volumes in derived sagas …
