The prequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is being filmed under the direction of Paul King (Paddington).
Under consideration for several years within Warner Bros, the film dedicated to the youth of Willy Wonka is finally officially launched. Filming kicks off this week in London, reveals The Hollywood Reporter, which adds some prestigious names to the cast of Paul King’s family film (Paddington): Olivia Colman (The Favorite), Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water) and Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean) join Timothée Chalamet (Dune), already chosen to embody the hero.
This feature film expected in March 2023 at the cinema will not directly adapt a story by Roald Dahl, unlike versions of Mel Stuart from 1971 (with Gene Wilder in the lead role) or Tim Burton from 2005 (with Johnny Depp), but will be interested in the youth of Wonka, before he founded his famous chocolate factory.
